AIAIAI TMA-2 Features

AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio Wireless Headphone features

As ompany says AIAIAI Studio+ Wireless Headphone is the world’s first wireless headphone for music creation which is the extension of their modular TMA-2 headphone system.

Ultra-Low Latency From W+ Link Technology – They have developed w+ link technology to transfer high-quality wireless audio up to a minimum of 16ms latency.

They worked for three years on the development of W+ technology with co-developers, Richie Hawtin and a global network of other professional artists to get the required quality.

Uncompressed and lossless audio – The connection operates on a higher frequency than Bluetooth hence you will get lossless audio. The dual antenna powers up both the drivers to serve high-quality wireless audio. When using this connection, this headphone provides uncompressed lossless audio over WIFI. A separate wireless receiver is used for this connection.

Battery Life – Company says this headphone gives 80 hours of battery life.

AUX cable connection – You can also connect a coiled hi-fi cable for the traditional setup

Drivers – AS company says, it’s the upgrade of TMA-2 wired Studio Headphones, obviously, the driver is same Detailed sounding Bio-diaphragm to provide flat frequency response.

Foam and padding – The foam and padding are built with high-quality foam and microfibers that allow you to work for a long time.

AIAIAI TMA-2 Headphones: In Details

In this section, we’ll get to know TMA Wireless Studio+ headphone’s features in detail.

AIAIAI TMA-2 Headphones give Lossless Audio??

This headphone comes with three types of connections.

  • W+ LINK technology
  • And, Tradditioanl wired setup

The W+ LINK technology operates on a higher frequency than Bluetooth 5.0 hence it transmits much more data in pe second.

Let’s get into some calculations of data transmission.

A Bluetooth 5.0 device provides up to 2MBPS data transfer speed. But W+ LINK technology provides up to 1.5MBPS, which is lower than Bluetooth.

Then how W+ Link technology provides lossless sound quality??

To find its answer, first, let us do some calculations for Bluetooth 5.0 connection.

Suppose you are monitoring your DAW in 96Hz/24Bit audio format and 8 tracks.

According to calculators available on the web, the file size for 16 channels (8 stereo tracks) audio for “1 second” will create in this sample rate is “4.608MB”.

So, even if your headphone is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, it can’t process the real audio above 4 simultaneous stereo tracks.

You can easily monitor a 4 stereo track audio with this headphone. But if you go beyond it, you will not get the true monitoring sound.

Also, Bluetooth connections are not optimized for audio transferring. They are used for various other tasks.

On the other hand, W+ LINK technology is built just for audio transfer. W+ LINK is not affected by the surroundings and other conditions. That’s why it delivers lossless audio.

YOu can see in the image below how W+ LINK technology is different than standard Bluetooth 5.0.

I have yet not tested this headphone personally and all the things I have given here are purely on a theoretical basis. So, let me check it in the future and I will update this article with genuine information.

Performance

It’s the upgrade of TMA 2 Studio headphones so you will get the same performance as TMA 2 Studio.

The only difference in this upgrade is you will get the wireless option. I don’t know if it’s going to be successful or not but AIAIAI is claiming that this Wireless headphone is specially built for recording studios.

If we talk about the transfer rate then it’s up to 1500 KBPS as shown in the image below.

There is no change in drivers from the earlier version. So you will get 40mm drivers made of Bio-diaphragm consisting of bio-cellulose. Obviously, the clarity of sound will not be compromised.

You will get robust high-quality audio and easily mix and monitor your songs with these headphones.

This headphone provides a whole spectrum of sound from 80Hz to 18kHz.

The below image says itself how prominent this headphone is at low and mid frequencies.

Durability

AIAIAI headphones are built with composite plastic so they are quite durable and long-lasting for years.

Apart from the case, it has ultra-soft over-ear foam cushions which are covered with Alcantara®, an aesthetic, functional, and CO2 neutral material.

The magnet is made of High-grade Neodymium material which makes it seamlessly work for years.

The wire provided with this headphone for traditional use is also of high quality made of coiled hi-fi cable.

There is no visible antenna in headphones and transmitter which is actually great when it comes to “on-the-go” use.

Visible Antennas not only disturb your work but are not suitable for mobile uses. That’s where this headphone fits well.

TMA 2 Studio+ headphone has highly durable and highly sensitive control buttons that last for years.

All the parts of this headphone can be separated so when not in use, you can store them separately.

This arrangement makes it great to carry on the go.

Connectivity

AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio Wireless Headphone connectivity

There are two types of connection provided in AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio+ Wireless Headphone.

  • W+ LINK Technology
  • Traditional connection via 1/8″-1/4″ phono coild cable.

A receiver is provided along with the headphone to connect it wirelessly with your audio device. You have to connect that receiver to your connection port and you are ready to listen to your tracks on headphones.

Also, if you want to connect it manually then you can use the cable given to start with a traditional setup.

Controls

AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio Wireless Headphone controls

AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio+ Wireless Headphone comes with 3 button controls to do various tasks such as connecting with the receiver, gain control, etc.

These buttons are built with high-quality components so you get seamless operation with durability.

Cushion Quality

As I have toll above, the cushions are made of Alcantara®, a high-grade cushion component that makes it more comfortable to work for a long time.

My Verdict

As I have discussed above, company claims this headphone provides lossless audio over its W+ LINK connection. But my research shows that if we record a project in 96kHz/24Bit and there are more than 4 stereo tracks which are obvious, then this headphone cannot transfer the full quality audio.

An 8 track 96kHz/24Bit project transfers 4MBPS data but W+ LINK is only capable of transferring up to 1.5 MBPS data.

However, I haven’t tested it in my studio so I can’t say about the real quality of these headphones.

Let us see the results after it comes into the market for regular sale.
